Howe School Principal

Principal of the Howe School, founded under the bequest of Dr. Zadok Howe and opened in 1852 in the building now known as the Old Howe School on Boston Road. It served as Billerica's high school, first under the Howe trustees and later under the town, which leased the building and then bought it in 1920. In 1916 the high school moved into the new Howe High School building, and the principal's post continued there until the class of 1955 graduated. In September 1955 Billerica Memorial High School opened, and the Howe High building became Howe Junior High School. From 1915 to 1920 the Superintendent of Schools also served as high school principal.
